Galva -

The Galva1 baseball squad experienced a tough week this past week.

The team, made up of 9- and 10-year-olds, on June 9 fell 10-0 at home to an undefeated Altona squad that featured strong pitchers.

Leftfielder Jaden Coakley had the team’s only hit. The only other Cats to reach base were Jared Cortes, Mason Kaiser and Jonah Zahm. Starring defensively was shortstop/secondbaseman/pitcher Nick Anderson, snagging three flies.

On Thursday, Galva1 fell at Oneida, 8-1.

Nick Anderson scored the team’s only run. Carey Meyer and Tyler Smith both reached base each of the two times they came to the plate.

Cameron Meyer was the defensive star, catching a good game behind the plate in the absence of starting catchers Mason Kaiser and Daniel Zahm.

With the losses, Galva1 is 1-5 on the season.

Good things are expected in week four as Coach Jim Anderson had the team out for an early Saturday morning practice to work on fundamentals and aggressive hitting.
