Gary Armel is expected to be approved as a new second-ward alderman when the Galva City Council holds its regular monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

Gary Armel is expected to be approved as a new second-ward alderman when the Galva City Council holds its regular monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

According to an agenda released by the city council for tonight's meeting, Armel is expected to be appointed to the council by Mayor Rich Nordstrom, with council consent and Armel's swearing in to follow.

Armel would replace former longtime alderman Dougie Anderson, who resigned two months ago.

Among other agenda items for tonight's meeting are opening of bids for the former Galva Manor lot, and discussion of whether a permanent band shell should be erected in Wiley Park.

The public is invited to the meeting.
