GOOD HOPE — Two children were injured and one woman killed as the result of a single-vehicle car accident that occurred Sunday afternoon just south of the McDonough-Warren County line north of Good Hope.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Virginia L. Jingst, 58, of Warsaw was driving south on U.S. Route 67 about a quater-mile south of County Road 2200 North at 3:08 p.m. when her pickup truck left the road on the east side.
The report states Jingst’s 2007 Ford F-250 overcorrected and crossed both lanes of traffic, entering the west ditch and rolling several times.
The truck came to rest on its wheels. Jingst was flown by Air Evac to OSF in Peoria for her injuries. She later died. The 13-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl, both of Keokuk, Iowa, were transported by ambulance to McDonough District Hospital for treatment. They were later released. Jingst and the two children were all wearing seat belts.
Good Hope Fire Protection District and McDonough County Sheriff’s Office assisted the state police.
