MACOMB — A Macomb man was arrested on aggravated battery and felony cannabis manufacture/delivery charges following the investigation of a fight that had occurred Monday afternoon.
According to a statement from the Macomb Police Department, officers were dispatched at 1:34 p.m. to the 500 block of North Randolph Street for a fight. Officers secured the scene and learned that the North Randolph Street incident stemmed from an earlier fight at North Lafayette and Pierce streets. Officers also learned that at one point during the fight between the two groups, a firearm had been brandished. Based on information obtained during their investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence of Delrico Nelson, 41, in an attempt to find a second handgun that may have been used in one of the altercations.
Although a second firearm was not found, officers did find 299 grams of cannabis along with packaging material and a digital scale.
Nelson was arrested on two counts of aggravated battery, manufacture/delivery of 30-500 grams of cannabis and possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis.
Shannon Smith, 50, of Macomb was charged with aggravated battery. Stacy Smith, 50, of Macomb was charged with battery. Demarcus Penn, 31, of Macomb was charged with battery.
The Smiths and Penn were released on $150 cash bond each. Nelson was still being held pending first appearance Tuesday morning.
