PLYMOUTH — A Plymouth man faces aggravated battery charges after he allegedly strangled a pregnant woman Friday night.
According to McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker, deputies were called to a residence near Plymouth at 8:20 p.m. Friday night on a report of a physical domestic disturbance.
A woman at the residence reported to deputies that Eric Scott Mayall, 29, had strangled her to a point where she almost lost consciousness. When attempting to place Eric Mayall under arrest, deputies reported that his mother, Georgia Mayall, 48, “continuously interfered” with their attempts to place him in custody. Eventually both Eric and Georgia Mayall were placed in custody. Eric Mayall faces charges of aggravated domestic battery due to allegedly restricting the victim’s airway, aggravated battery due to the victim being pregnant and resisting an officer. His bond is set at $2,000 cash, and his next court appearance is set for Dec. 6.
Georgia Mayall faces a charge of resisting/obstructing a peace officer. She is released on $150 cash bond, and her next court appearance is set for Dec. 4.
VanBrooker told the Voice that an ambulance was called to the residence to check the victim over for injuries; however the victim went by private vehicle to the hospital.
