Tiger wrestlers win road match at
Fairfield, 60-15

 The Olney Tigers traveled

to Fairfield to face off

against the Mules on the

wrestling mats on Monday.

The Tigers entered the

day looking for win number

six on the season, and

to continue the success of

recent performances.

The Tigers picked up

the win on the day claiming

victories in 11 of the 14

matches, defeating host

Fairfield 60-15.

Olney picked up seven

pin fall victories, two tech

fall wins, and two matches

ended in major decisions

in favor of the Tigers.

Fairfield won three

matches on the day, with

one by pin fall, one by decision,

and one by forfeit.

Olney opened up the

match with a win at the

106 pound weight class.

Cadin Ackman picked

up his sixth win on the

season by pinning Otis

Lurz at the 50 second

mark on the match.

Olney jumped ahead 6-

0 on the scoreboard following

the Ackman pin.

Dylan Ritter added four

more to the Tiger score

column as he downed

Damian Akes.

Ritter picked up the major

decision (9-0) victory

over Akes to earn the four

points on the day at 113


Fairfield picked up one

of their three wins at the

120 pound bout. Lane

Harvey pinned Drew Walters

at 3:15 of the


Harvey put Fairfield on

the board and cut the Olney

lead on the day to 10-

6 after the first three


Olney would bounce

right back as Reese Britton

would battle Alex

Witucki at 126 pounds.

Britton would pick up

season win number seven

with the pin at 2:49 over


Colton Ross was the

winner at 132 pounds for

the Mules by forfeit to

again put points in the

scoring column for the

host squad.

After the first five

matches finished, Olney

held the slim margin advantage

on the board with

a 16-12 lead.

The Tigers would put

the pressure on and put a

stranglehold on the opposition

over the next five


Jarrett Fuson started

the five match win streak

during the 138 pound


Fuson would pick up a

pin fall victory, his ninth

victory on the year, by

downing Aaron Walker at


The Fuson pin created

space between the two

clubs with the Tigers looking

to extend the gap.

Captain Ean Pottorff

was able to help extend

the lead as he picked up a

pin fall victory to remain

unblemished on the season.

Pottorff (12-0) pinned

Justin Miller at 1:41 at 145

pounds to help add to the

Olney advantage.

Jacob Ferguson made it

three pins in a row for the

Tigers as the Olney 152

pounder out-scrapped the

Mules Jesse Manning at

the 2:48 mark.

Levi Seitzinger earned

his fourth win of the year

by pinning Mikkel

Brandtber at the 160

pound matchup.

Seitzinger earned the

win at the 1:23 mark of

their bout.

Hunter Summitt would

make it five wins in a row

for Olney with a tech fall

victory at 170 pounds.

Summitt would down

Alex King during the 170

pound match, 16-0 to earn

the win via tech fall.

After the Ross win by

forfeit at 132 pounds, Olney

held a slim 16-12 lead

over the Mules.

Fuson, Pottorff, Ferguson,

Seitzinger, and Summitt

picking up the five

straight wins ballooned

the four point lead up to

33 as the Tigers led 45-12

with just four matches remaining.

Jayden Stuessel stopped

thes streak of Tiger wins

with hist decision victory

at 182 pounds.

Stuessel was able to do

just enough to down

Yunus Tulay 17-12 and

earn the decision victory

and put the final three

points on the board for

the Mules.

Kyle Dowty would answer

the Mules win with a

Tiger victory at the 195

pound battle.

The junior for the

Tigers improved to 7-5 on

the season with his tech

fall victory over Theron

Stewart, 18-1.

Kyle Beasley earned a

major decision victory at

the 220 pound battle by

defeating Dylan Heifner.

Beasley, still undefeated

on the year at 6-0, earned

the major decision victory

over Heifner with the 12-3

points put up in the battle.

Olney would head into

the final match of the

night with the commanding

lead 54-15.

Skyler Sutton was looking

to end the night on a

high note for the orange

and black and the 285

pound matchup.

Sutton would battle

Kyle Buchanan and at the

3:49 mark of the battle,

the Tigers would end the

night with their seventh

pin fall victory.

Skyler Sutton pinned

Kyle Buchanan at the

3:49 mark to claim the

285 pound match and put

the Tigers ahead 60-15 at

the end of the day.

After the good performances

on the mat, Olney

improves to 6-3 on the


After a less than ideal

start to the year, Olney

has bounced back and put

together a string of wins

to start to gain momentum

heading into the last

part of the season.

wrestling squad will finish

The Tigers will travel to

Mahomet to face off

against Decatur Eisenhower,

Westville, and the

host Mahomet-Seymour.

Olney will hit the mats

on the road at 10:00 am

to wrap up the first half of

the schedule on Friday.

After the break, Olney

will return for the 2018

portion of the schedule in

a home match at historic

Ron Herrin Gym on

Wednesday, January 3rd,

hosting Charleston and

Effingham at 6:00 pm.
