MACOMB — Farm King stepped forward with a charitable donation of foodstuffs to Loaves and Fishes food pantry at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 400 E. Carol Street.
Among the allotment of foods donated were frosted shredded wheat cereal, Bush’s ham and beans, Jell-O and Hamburger Helper.
Cindy Foster, store manager at Farm King, told the Voice the food is donated each year by Rick and Brad Severs through Azelia Severs. Farm King was established in 1959 by Dick and Azelia Severs at 334 N. Randolph Street in Macomb. The store is now located at 1620 E. Jackson in Macomb.
“We’re just bringing it here to the Presbyterian Church today to drop it off in the hopes that we can help whoever needs it,” Foster said.
Carol Skiles received the donation on behalf of Loaves and Fishes which is, according to their Facebook page, “a social organization providing food to those in need through the support of generous community, many volunteers and client churches.”
Loaves and Fishes is open Monday through Thursday, 1:15 to 4 p.m., and Friday 1:15 to 3:30 p.m.
