Galva High School emerged as champion of the 2018 Henry County Envirothon held March 15 at Black Hawk East.

Galva High School emerged as champion of the 2018 Henry County Envirothon held March 15 at Black Hawk East.

High school students from Henry, Stark, Rock Island, Bureau and Putnam counties participated in the Council 2 Envirothon.

At the Envirothon, teams participate in a series of presentations that focus on five topic areas — soils and land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife and range land environmental issues.  

Galva placed first overall in soils and land use, and won the overall Envirothon title.

Galva team members are Kristen VanDeVelde, Josh Jeffries, Lauren Hawes, Hannah Anderson, Kayla Kendall, Emilyann Wexell and Darrah Schilling.
