Runners commemorate the upcoming Special Olympics

MACOMB —Runners from the Macomb Police Department participate in the annual Torch Run Wednesday morning in Macomb. The run commemorates the upcoming Special Olympics, which will begin in Bloomington, Illinois on Friday, and is run in communities throughout the state. On Wednesday, local runners ran 2 miles along a route that began in Chandler Park, continued up Jackson Street, then on to Ward Street, then Carroll Street before returning to Chandler Park. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics.
