The banged up Galva Lady Wildcats dropped four of five outings in the 8th annual Lee Westerman Princeville Holiday Tournament.

Coach Dan Russell’s squad split its doubleheader on the opening day of the six-team, round-robin event. The Lady Wildcats, who were without the services of injured senior starters Brynn Patty and Josie Williams, fell to Midland 38-32 in game one Wednesday, Dec. 26, and rallied to defeat Peoria Heights 41-17 in the nightcap.

Galva trailed Midland just 24-22 going into the final eight minutes, and the Timberwolves held off the Lady Cats with a 14-point fourth quarter. Darrah Schilling finished in double figures for Galva with 12 points.

Galva had little trouble with Peoria Heights in game two as Tressa Rogers tallied 10 points to lift the Lady Cats to the win.

Day two of the tourney pitted Galva against the tourney’s top two teams. Lady Cats were doubled up by Bushnell-Prairie City 46-23 and fell to host Princeville 68-17 in the nightcap. Schilling scored 14 points in the loss to B-PC.

Galva closed the tourney Friday with a 41-26 loss to Elmwood. Schilling once again led the Lady Cats with 11 points.

Princeville proved to be the class of the field and won the event with a 5-0 record. The Lady Princes capped their perfect march through the tourney with a 56-34 win over Bushnell-Prairie City Friday.

B-PC was next at 4-1, followed by Elmwood 3-2, Midland 2-3, Galva 1-4 and Peoria Heights 0-5.
