CANTON-Wednesday morning a four-legged friend got another chance at finding his forever home as he was transported via airplane to a foster home.

Charlie, an American Eskimo estimated at 10 to 11 years old, had been at the Humane Society of Fulton County since June 16.

Thanks to Pilots N Paws, Charlie was transported to a foster home in Missouri.

Volunteer pilot Randy Gerber met Humane Society volunteers at Canton Ingersoll Airport Wednesday morning.

Gerber started flying in the 1950s but then stopped for about 16 years before picking it back up again three years ago. He is an attorney in Missouri who is planning on retiring in October.

Charlie was secured in a kennel in the back of the plane during flight.

Pilot N Paws is a non-profit organization that helps volunteers schedule transportation for homeless animals.
