(Geneseo)- Monday night, October 7, Geneseo police officers took an Alabama woman, Shannon J. Jones, 38, into custody on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit First Degree murder.    Allegedly, Jones poisoned the drink of an individual she was targeting in what police say was an “isolated domestic incident.” Chief Casey Disterhoft told the Republic “At no time was any other citizen at risk or danger.”   After the individual began feeling ill effects from the poison, none serious, he was “bludgeoned” by Jones and an accomplice at his residence on N. Aldrich Street, but was able to escape.    Police took Jones to Henry County Jail where she is being held on $500,000 bail. The alleged accomplice is receiving “non-medical” treatment at a secure location. He will be taken into custody shortly.    Deputy Chief Gene Karzin credits the officers at the scene with digging deeper into what could have been dismissed as a routine domestic call, to get to the root of the story.    The investigation is ongoing.
