Dwight Regional semifinal

Logan Graham got off to a shaky start but settled into a groove, and Dwight’s offense erupted for five runs in the sixth inning to break a tie as the Trojans moved on to the championship round of the Class 1A Dwight Regional Friday with an 8-3 win over Gardner-South Wilmington.
DTHS will meet top-seed Ottawa (Marquette) at 11 a.m. Saturday for the right to advance to the Illinois Wesleyan Sectional.
Graham allowed a run in the first inning and two more in the second as Dwight fell behind 3-0. The senior right-hander allowed three straight singles to open the GSW second, but didn’t give a hit the rest of the way.
Meanwhile, the Trojans were able to get on the board in the third to get going on offense. Graham helped with a two-base hit that put runners on second and third. Colton Holm followed with a two-run double to cut the Panthers’ lead to 3-2.
Holm singled in the fifth inning to knot the game at 3-3 after Cal Schultz scored on the play.
Christmas came in the sixth inning for Dwight as the first three of the first four batters reached by error, walk and error. Schultz hit a grounder to short that was misplayed and Peyton Byerley scored to give DTHS the lead.
Holm doubled with the bases loaded to plate Cade Enerson, Schultz and Graham for a 7-3 advantage. Carson Crouch scored on an error for the final run.
Holm finished with four hits, including two doubles, and drove in six runs to pace the Dwight attack. Graham had a double and single and Enerson and Camden Beier each singled.
Graham got the win after striking out six in 6 2/3 innings for the Trojans (12-12). He walked five and allowed four hits. Schultz came on to get a strikeout to end the game.
